Did Yeshua Make All Foods Clean?

If we truly believe that Yeshua changed the function of pigs and shellfish, why did He not do the same with the vulture? Think about it.

Common sense itself tells us that after coming into contact with excrement or bodily fluids (semen, menstrual flows, etc.), we become contaminated in some way, and therefore we seek to cleanse ourselves carefully. Yet we do not think the same way about food that the Scriptures declare unfit to eat—food we accept or tolerate without concern.

Let us consider the issue of unclean food. We have been taught that “if it crawls, runs, or flies, it goes into the pot!” But that is a serious error. The death of Yeshua did not change the nature of animals nor the original purpose for which they were created.

For example, the vulture is a scavenger bird, created to cleanse the land by consuming carcasses it finds in the field. That was its role before the coming of Yeshua, and it remains so today; for this reason, no one considers eating it.

In the same way, the pig was created to process organic waste; its function has not changed. Shellfish—lobsters, crabs, oysters, and others—exist to clean the bottom of the sea and purify its waters. And the list goes on. Now, if we truly believe that Yeshua changed the function of pigs and shellfish, why did He not do the same with the vulture? Think about it.

Consider it carefully: consuming unclean food affects not only our bodies but also our souls:

Do not make yourselves detestable by any creeping thing that moves, nor make yourselves unclean with them, lest you be defiled by them. For I am Yehovah your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy.
