The Feasts For Families – Sukkot Edition

by Sara Rood-Smith

SUKKOT is also called the Feast of Tabernacles, or Feast of Booths. It is one of the three pilgrimage feasts, or feasts for which we are commanded to “go up” to Jerusalem, but we still celebrate this feast because it is a rehearsal of events that have already occurred and ones yet to come.

So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival to YeHoVah for seven days” ~ Leviticus 23:15-16

Sukkot Fulfillment #1

When we build and dwell in our sukkah each year, we remember when the Almighty dwelt among the people in the Tabernacle in the wilderness that we entered into a covenant with him. It was also there where we broke that covenant.

Sukkot Fulfillment #2

Many years later, the Messiah came to redeem us, pay the penalty for our breaking the covenant, and give us the gift of eternal life. Yeshua was born on the first day of Sukkot over 2,000 years ago. The Word of YeHoVah was made flesh and dwelt among us, and because of him we can dwell forever with the Almighty.

Sukkot Fulfillment #3

Sukkot’s third fulfillment will be when we have finally been gathered to Messiah. There will be a great feast and celebration – the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Then, at the end of that Sukkot, on the Last Great Day, Yeshua will return to earth to rule with his people for a thousand years.

Sukkot Fulfillment #4

The final fulfillment of Sukkot is an eternal Sukkot. There will be a new heaven and new earth, and we will finally dwell with the Almighty eternally.
