If you have been a seeker of truth for any length of time, you have likely heard about or participated in Bible studies on Shabbat that focused on reading the “Torah portions.” I know the routine — I’ve been there.

For years, we gathered in my home in Jerusalem to read and study the Torah portions that were divided by the Pharisee Rabbis in Babylon long after Rome ejected us from the Land of Israel. Week after week, I witnessed believers mincing over the minutiae of the weekly Torah portions — but having no idea of the overall picture presented in the Torah. They were, in effect, studying the lichen on the bark of the trees, but missing the entire forest before them.

Their nitpicking proclivities eventually extended into every area of their lives. Mark my words here… Context is the key to understanding scriptures – not stripping words from their context and constructing judgmental systematic theologies. If you agree… keep reading.

Context is the key in a teaching I delivered a few years ago that covers much of the Torah’s core — Passover: The Path To Freedom. In this six-episode series, I lead you on a chronological journey of discovery that begins just after the flood in Genesis 9, and takes you all the way through our Exodus from Egypt. The journey then continues in the follow-up series, as we learn some hard “Lessons on the Way to Sinai”.

I recorded these series after asking Heaven, “What is the most important message to communicate if this is to be my last?” Now, after six coronary bypasses this past March, I feel like a new man. I’m pressing on to the finish line — and I encourage you to do the same.

It’s time to stop playing pattycake with rabbinites. Get the truth and get it out to the world — or at least donate to this ministry so that we can do more of it from our end. Do it now… make it happen!
